Houston SPCA is currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to work in the Admissions Clinic and Surgery Suite. Registered Veterinary Technician is preferred, but consideration will be given to an experienced, unlicensed technician. This successful candidate must be able to restrain and handle animals properly, administer vaccinations, medications, injections, venipuncture, intubate and perform physical examinations on animals of all sizes who enter the facility. Candidate must have knowledge and perform general anesthesia techniques and safety along with basic surgery and recovery. Also will be responsible for general cleaning of surgery including instruments, wrapping packs, and autoclave. All applicants must have basic computer skills, strong communication, organized, self-confident, motivated, and have the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of Veterinary professionals and other staff members in a respectful manner; as well as interacting professionally and compassionately with the general public.
